From a relatively early age, whenever I considered the idea of someday getting married, I always just assumed that I would write all of the music for the ceremony. When I did eventually marry my wife, I created the four-movement Wedding Book for Violin, Viola, Bassoon, and Piano. This atypical instrumentation (a modification of the more common piano quartet) was employed to bring together four good friends to perform together during the wedding in a variety of combinations: a duet, two trios, and the full quartet.
